Summer Surf Camps (AGES 5-8)
Little Groms Summer Surf Camp begins its 2017 summer schedule on June 5 and will run until the last week of August. We have 2 sessions each day. Morning sessions are from 9am to 12pm and Afternoon sessions run from 1pm to 4pm Monday thru Friday.
Each day at surf camp begins with stretching and talking about the current ocean conditions. After evaluating the current conditions and talking about ocean safety we go out for our first water session. During our water sessions we surf, boogie board, and bodysurf. We allow each of our students to go at their own pace and never push them past their comfort level. This is very important to kids at this young age so they can build their confidence gradually. After our first water session we take a snack break for the kids to refuel. After the snack break we run and play some high energy beach games and then get back into the ocean for our next session. During our water sessions we emphasize to our students the importance beach and water safety. A few of our points of emphasis are rip currents (how they form and how to stay relaxed and swim out of them) and the ‘stingray shuffle’ and how this helps to keep away stingrays.
Please make sure to pack a snack and water each day along with a towel and dry clothes.
